2008 Philadelphia Film Festival Submission Information
The 2008 Philadelphia Film Festival (March 26 - April 7, 2009) is presented by the non-profit Philadelphia Film Society and offers a full program of full-length and short films as well as documentaries, experimental works and animation. If you are interested in submitting your work, please read all the information below and follow the instructions.
Entry Requirements
The Festival is seeking all genres - features, shorts, animation, experimental and documentaries in
film and/or video format.
ONLY Films completed in 2007 or early 2008 will be eligible for submission.
All entries must include a completed entry form, the non-refundable entry fee and at least one review
copy of the film in DVD format.
Any number of titles may be submitted by an entrant. However, each title must have its own separate
entry form, review copy and entry fee.

Submission Deadline
The deadline for submissions for the 2009 Philadelphia Film Festival is December 31, 2008
Selections are made by Festival Artistic Director Raymond Murray, Festival curators, and a screening committee.
Screening Requirements
The Festival is able to screen films in a variety of formats, including 35-mm film, Beta SP
or Digi-Beta and miniDV.
All non-English-language entries must have English subtitles for preview and presentation.
Exceptions may be made for entries with little or no dialogue. If you have questions, please contact us before sending your entry.
Philadelphia Film Festival Juried Competition
Awards are granted in the following categories:
Best Feature Film (50 minutes or longer)
Best American Independent Feature
Best First Film
The Archie Award for Best First-Time Director
Best Documentary
Best Short Film
Best Animation
Competition selections are made by Festival programmers. Winners will be announced at the Philadelphia Film Festival Closing Night Ceremonies on Wednesday, April 16th. As of this time, no cash prizes are given.
Entry Fees
Entry fees are based on running time and are non-refundable. Payment must be made in U.S. dollars only. Payment for US entries may be made by check, money order, Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Payment for international entries must be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover.
Under 50 minutes: $15

Shipment Packaging
Ship tapes or DVDs in a bubble-pack envelope.
International Shipments
All entries from outside the U.S. should be sent Air Mail Registered or by a parcel or express service. The Festival cannot accept entries shipped via air freight if customs and delivery fees have not been prepaid.
Return of Entries
Preview DVDs will not be returned unless prior arrangements have been made with festival staff.
